Voices of America: Chris Westfall & the Enduring Spirit of John Denver

Updated: Jan 26

As we approach the 250th anniversary of the United States, the Roxbury Arts Alliance is proud to unveil its 2026 programming theme,

Voices of America – Music, Stories and Spirit, celebrating the artists and traditions that have shaped American culture through music and storytelling.

We are especially honored to welcome back Chris Westfall performing Rocky Mountain Spirit on Friday, May 1st, 2026 at 7:30 pm. A long-time friend of Roxbury Arts Alliance, his performances have become cherished experiences for our audiences.

Chris has been connected to our community since about 2017, when he was introduced to us by dedicated volunteer and board member Cindy Donaldson. After working with him for a family memorial, Donaldson knew his authentic storytelling and musical warmth was a perfect fit for the RAA stage. A return performance this year feels less like a concert and more like a homecoming.

Born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, Chris discovered his love for acoustic music at just four years old and has been performing since the age of twelve. Music, for Chris, is not simply a passion, it is a calling. He was trained vocally by instructors from Juilliard and Rutgers University. An accomplished self-taught pianist and guitarist, he brings both technical excellence and heartfelt sincerity to every performance.

Chris is widely known for his thoughtful interpretations of American folk music and his moving tribute performances honoring artists such as John Denver. Denver’s music emerged during a pivotal era in American history, when folk and singer-songwriter music gave voice to themes of nature, unity, environmental awareness, and the search for belonging. These timeless songs remain an essential part of America’s musical heritage.

Through his John Denver tribute, Chris Westfall carries forward that legacy, offering audiences a live music experience rooted in American folk music storytelling. His clear tenor voice moves effortlessly from familiar folk favorites to original compositions, creating live music performances in New Jersey that feel personal, reflective, and deeply engaging.

Audiences consistently remark on Chris’s ability to connect through song. He invites listeners to sing along, transforming live folk music into a shared experience where strangers become friends. Chris has a rare gift for making every listener feel seen and included, regardless if performing in an intimate theater like Citizens Bank Theater or a larger venue.

We invite you to join us as Roxbury Arts Alliance features Rocky Mountain Spirit, a special live concert tribute to John Denver and an evening that celebrates American folk

music, storytelling, and the enduring spirit of connection that music brings to our lives.
